How should I get him back?

So recently I wasn’t aware that my guy friend was hurt by something I had said to him awhile ago. His cousin told me he was deeply hurt but somehow he didn’t want me to know. His cousin thought it would be best if I did know since I’m an understanding person.

But also, why would he only tell his male friends and cousin about what was wrong but couldn’t come to me? I get he’s upset but he could’ve tried telling me, cause he know me well enough that I wouldn’t hurt his feelings on purpose.

And I don't know how to go up to him and apologize without him knowing his cousin told me which was supposed to be kept between them.

I don't know what you said that would hurt him, but maybe he feels ashamed for being upset over this, or maybe there is something deeper to it thN you think. I know you might be a little offended or hurt by hum not telling you, but if you lay aside your emotions, what do you see then? Do you see the missing peace of the puzzle? Anyways, you should tell him that you have noticed him being shut off or maybe a little down lately and ask him if there is something wrong... And just try to build up the conversation from there.

Go up and say I've noticed something is different between us. What's going on? We are close enough that you can tell me. I want it to go back like it was before
