I don't know a lot about this person to know the experiences that men had. So I am just guessing.


For some men they just want beauty.
For others they can't stand the torment of nagging, they want to be the bread winner, and if she is is seen as better than them then they see themselves out of her league and needing to make up for that, so they just won't try. Too much talking can be a huge turnoff.

I have seen tons women who are selfish, inconsiderate, gossipy, mean, insecure get married. My supervisor has a terrible personality. She's inconsiderate, selfish, does things out of her own convenience iwthout any regard to others, unnecessarily strict / unsympathetic, petty. I have seen short, scrawny guys with wives and children. While I see young, tall, handsome men who are still single at the age of 38.

"Bad personality" is subjective. Different guys like different types of women. Some guys don't mind it if a girl is a bit bossy, bad tempered and feisty. But other guys would mind. Other guys wouldn't mind it if his wife was selfish (if she has many other redeemable qualities). A girl that you find boring (another guy may not think the same way).

But the types that tend to stay permanently single tend to be the folks with mental / emotional issues which prevent them from ever having a successful relationship.

My mom was horribly abused as a girl by my evil grandpa. Then she married an abusive pos. Then he suddenly died of an aneurysm and I was the product of a one night stand.
After I was born my mom decided that even though she wanted to be in a relationship in which she was loved and valued... she knew she had poor taste in picking quality men. So she resigned herself to loneliness for the sake of her kids.

You never know the evils or horrors that some people have had to deal with. Unless you care enough about that woman to be her friend... it's none of your business. Speculate all you want... in private... and leave her be.

After 35 she was too old to provide children, so men looked toward younger women.

Most likely, the behaviour that you described was a shield to hide how much pain she was in, from loneliness and regret.

But at the same time a man wants to feel like a man and if she is snobby it's quite the turn off. They do get married - almost every time. For some people once they get married, they calm down in a lot of ways and the annoying personality traits disappear as well. Then there are other times when the person overlooks their bad personality and finds out later on that their personality is a big problem.
