My boyfriend doesn't want me to dye my hair. What should I do?

I've long since wanted to dye my hair since I was a kid but couldn't do so due to school restrictions. It hurts how everyone supports my decision except my own signficant other.
I consider dyeing my hair as a form of self-expression and of course I don't want to hurt anyone with my own self-expression. It doesn't seem like he is disrespecting me but is just affected and hurt through my actions.

The argument got to the point of "Hair dye over me".

He dislikes it generally under two reasons:
1) "I feel like I would lose all the precious memories of you before you've dyed your hair"
2) Just not his preference; "not natural"

I could be wrong but it seems like he has difficulty coping with change (?) He holds memories very tightly. Should I just not dye my hair in consideration for his feelings?

On one hand, he seems a bit too stiff and too demanding, it is just a temporary dye and not something permanent like tattoo. Could be a red flag of him being a "control freak".

On the other hand, if he also listens and reflects to your inputs on his looks then it would be kind to reciprocate.

Like imagine if the next thing will be the hair length - you would be stuck with the same hair stylisation your whole life because "otherwise he would forget all those memories with you".

These are very dumb reasons, but then again I never got this way of thinking. There are so many things I find attractive because someone I like did them, preventing someone you like from doing anything is just stopping you from loving a new thing

Anyway, I feel like he will change his mind as soon as you dye it, plus its not like it permeant, if he really does hate it I'm sure he'll live for the 3 months it takes to grow back

Tough call, but if I were you I would be concerned about what other sorts of change will upset him. Because change is going to come whether he likes it or not. Think about it.

Figure out what color you like, then buy a nice wig in that color and length. Afterwords get all dressed up as sexy as possible and surprise your boyfriend. Just say, “the new me and I am all that”
