My boyfriend (of 1 year) has been leaving his phone everywhere
For examples:

- when he fuels up his car and i stay inside the car.. he leaves his phone in the car

- when im making breakfast, he puts his phone on the kitchen bench top infront of me

- when he takes a shower, he leaves it on the couch or kitchen table where im near it

Do you think he's doing all this so I dont be suspicious of him?

It could be no more than just a concidence, or that in fact he does it on pourpouse cause he wants you to know he has nothing to hide from you (Still doesn't give a certin answer) ; But why do you find this suspicious? Has he done anything that made you believe he could possibly be unfaithful?

You asking strangers wouldn't give you the right answer; Lack of trust is a relationship poison (Especially if you're just naturally suspicious) ;

What you can do is confront him! have a talk rather than the ideas in your head cause the only answer is to find out from him by words or action?

We don't know the man to say why he does it! and even if we did we might still not be able to tell.

But honestly ask yourself what makes you think that he's doing it on pourpose? Really try and trace back the reason of all those thoughts, it might also help yo find an answer or a lead at least.

Hope for your sake that things goes well and that you could protect your relationship.

I leave my phone in the van when I gas up, I leave my phone plugged up in the kitchen or my room when I take a shower.. Not everyone keeps their phone on them 24/7... But yet, if he did you'd most likely be suspicious of that. I'd worry more about why you're overthinking something so trivial..

I am not married nor am I in an exclusive relationship. My life is an open book. I use an iPhone 8 (yes I know it's old) that I have had for close to 6 months. It is an Apple Replacement and is basically new. When I am out of my vehicle I normally keep it in the holder, unless I will be out of the vehicle for a long time. Same with cooking and while brushing, shaving, or while in the shower. My password is only needed if I don't open it up within 4 hours. I keep no social media on it and use it for SMS texts and voice calls. Once about 3 months or so ago I was gassing up at a local WAWA and noticed the gal I was spending that day with had my phone in her hands looking through my phone. Once I got back in my car I asked her for her phone, she said why? I said now you know how I feel when you go through mine! I also let her know if she has a question to simply ask me.
If it were me unless there are other "red flags" that set off your spidey senses to take this as him feeling comfortable around you! This is a good thing. You start getting all "psycho" on him you might soon see the curb! That's not me being mean, that's me being real!

The girl i like who's 33, the other day, she and i went to the store, she was looking for some stuff for Christmas, i was her ride (she doesn't drive), and we got there just as they were closing. i dropped her off so she could go in and start shopping real quick. me and her kid who came along (she's 6), parked the car, and i realized she had left her phone in the car. she already needs a new phone, so it's not like she really cares about it but, she left it in the car, so i said, well, she probably needs it, right. I grabbed it, didn't look at it, walked in, handed it to her and she says "oh, you brought it, i don't care". So i said "well, just in case, right"?

I asked someone why she may have done this, not only left it in the car but also replied the way she did and they said it's because she may trust me with her phone and that if i wanted to look at it, i could have. I don't know her passcode anyway, so it's not like i could have but, that's what the person said. Do you think this is true?

Honestly, even if i did have the passcode, i could care less about whats on her phone. it's HER phone, not mine. Plus, it would only show insecurity, if i did. I need to show her im ok with who i am

I never thought of leaving things out as an invitation to "check" what's in them. I don't bring my purse with me to the shower or to cook eggs. It seems weird to me to bring my phone along to those events unless I'm expecting an important call. Could he possibly just be putting his phone down so he can use both hands at the same time? Maybe his phone isn't on his mind every minute?

If his behavior is making you question him then there’s something telling you to not trust him. Listen to your intuition. Him leaving the phone around near you doesn’t mean anything. I can leave my phone near anyone but it’s not unlocked nor do they know my passcode.

It's a show of good faith/trust. I wouldn't say the intent of you not being suspicious, but intent of having you know he's not hiding anything. That he's trusting you and that you can trust him.

Because some people view you excusing yourself and taking your phone to be an excuse to send a message in private at times

When I lived in my home country I used to be like that, you could find my phone anywhere and it's not on purpose some people just aren't hooked too it and can let go.

Although where I live now if I put it in my back pocket it could be stolen so it's always on me.

No that's just normal behavior for a guy. Nothing to read into. Phones are tools not appendices. So we can leave them nearby when we do our things, no reason to carry it everywhere we will hear if it calls. You should leave it alone, you have your own. You are the one not trusting him, besides if he is smart it's locked so you can't open it.

Yes, He definitely has something to hid, I have been in a toxic relationship for 1yr and 3 mo. And he would do the same thing. It's a guilt tactic so if he sees you going through his phone, he's going to justify what he has on his phone. That is a big red flag for a narcissist.
