Nothing wrong with that. If he's bringing home the check, paying the rent/mortgage, protecting the family from intruders, doing the tough physical work like moving heavy objects around and fixing stuff, then that is what you should do in return.

I can't help but notice you said you would slap some for asking you for a penny. First of all, a real man makes his own money. However slapping someone unprovoked/in non-self-defense situations isn't ladylike. If a dude asks you for a penny because he's broke, you can just leave him. Simple.
