Well, I think we need each other, and we're MUCH better off, and MUCH more likely to be happy, when we are paired up and working together.

And for the women who think you don't need a man, pretend that every man on Earth was leaving the planet tomorrow and wouldn't return for a year. Would you survive to see them return?

Think about all of the jobs that men do that are 100% or nearly 100% performed by men. Do you like fresh water when you turn on the tap? Virtually all water processing, reservoir management, dam building, and water distribution is performed by men. That means in a week or two, your taps will run dry.

Men also perform nearly 100% of jobs regarding electricity generation and distribution. If men went away, you'd be without power in no more than a couple of days.

Gasoline, diesel, and other liquid fuels? Virtually all jobs performed by men. You might have a week or two of fuel, and then what?

Food? Virtually all food is grown, harvested, processed, and distributed by men. In a week, when the supermarkets are empty and restaurants have run out of food, what are you going to eat?

Telecommunications: over 95% of non-administrative telecom jobs are performed by men. Say goodbye to the Internet and most other forms of communication.

Other goods and services: nearly all trucking is performed by men, and nearly all service work (plumbers, electricians, roofers, fence companies, cement work, etc.) is performed by men. Who is going to bring stuff to stores? Who is going to fix your leaky roof, or your fence when it blows over, or your retaining wall when it fails?

Ocean transportation: 100% male. Forget about getting anything from overseas - the ships might be there but there are no crews to run them, no fuel, and no one to load and unload them.

How long would women survive without food, water, electricity, stores, restaurants, and fuel? Do you think enough women could learn these jobs well enough to do them with no help before the machines failed (a week at best?), the fuel ran out, the electricity stopped, and so on? Because once something major goes - like power - that will cause a cascade failure that will take out everything else. You can have a billion barrels of oil, but you can't make gasoline or diesel or kerosene without electricity, and you can't transport anything without fuel. You also can't make fresh water - or pump water - without electricity.

I appreciate the things that women do for men - things that are invaluable - and I'm under no illusion that life without women would be anything but miserable. The women who think they would get along just fine without men are in completely denial or just unbelievably ignorant. If men were gone for just a week, they would quickly freak out, no matter how independent they think they are.

If we are to get technical, men don't need women at all. If humans stopped creating children that is. Allow me to explain:

Men prefer to work with things, women prefer to work with people. You see men taking hard physical jobs and blue collar jobs, while women mostly dominate in teaching, nursing and a lot of them also take psychology.

Truck drivers are mostly men. Without truck drivers, supplies cannot be delivered anywhere. Factory workers are mostly men. Engineers are mostly men. I think you see where I'm going with this?

In a scenario where men no longer exist, women wouldn't survive. If you created the infrastructure, you know how it works. Women cannot just follow a manual, it takes time and skill, and they just don't have that. There will be scarcity of women who are equipped to take over, since a lot of these industries are male-dominated, and if they cannot transfer the knowledge in time, a lot of women will die as a result of hunger, dehydration, infection and the list goes on and on.

Men have made Western society so comfortable, that women started to think "we don't need men" when they are the one's more likely to die while working, and more like to do the jobs that sustain everyday living, while women want to complain about the top 1% of men and what they're doing. There's a hierarchy, and without it we have anarchy, and trust me when I tell you that you don't want anarchy. Without structure, society will be doomed in a few months.

At the end of the day men desire women, but the argument was whether we "need" them, and I just found a lot of the comments ridiculous and downright delusional.

Usually I hear vice versa.

The thing is 1st world countries have created a society (that was built by men) that ironically do not need men anymore.

Anyway from my observations most semi attractive women are voluntarily single vs their male counterparts who are involuntarily single.

However if you are a flat out unattractive woman then it’s going to be very difficult love life. A unattractive man still has a chance if he’s got a good personality and is successful.

Then there are very attractive women vs very attractive guys. Very attractive women get a half mile start in the one mile race. They have their own unique problems (jealousy from other women, constantly being hit on, aggressively stalkers, people assume their lazy/dumb and just rely on looks).

Good looking guys have some advantages but they only get 100 yard head start in the one mile race. They do NOT have the same dating power a good looking woman does. They just have more opportunity. They are still expected to take initiative. If they are long time single they often get labeled “gay” which is bullshit.

We both need eachother. Equally, for ourseves (not to repair stuff around the house (gender roles)) for reproduction sure, for intimacy too, for our sexual needs yes, as a partner to trust and share our life with.

Gender roles usually dictate that men are way more valuable than women, in a society. As men usually work more useful jobs and have more skills that built and maintains this comfortable world we live in.

Most women lack the basic strenght required that takes years or sometimes impossible for a woman to reach. Women could learn most skillsets, however most women don't find it interesting.

And if men were to be Thanos snapped away tomorrow, women would die off, as the system would collapse before an able workforce could be trained.

While men already have it all the imprtant fields covered, so when women get snapped away we lose most of the service/social industries, some corporate chaos ensues for a week or two, and schools are empty. Other than that guys will live out to their old age. Guys are also great problem solvers so it is a higher chance for men to come uo with a way to give birth in a test tube

So in that sense men are more important to the well being of the society.

Human beings are social animals and we need each other regardless of gender. Nobody needs a partner but they need some kind of intimate relationship, like a close friendship, in their life or they'll go insane.

It depends on the person and the reason they need each other. I can´t speak for women so I´d say I disagree because men need women too we just have it harder to admit that.
Because if we didn´t there wouldn´t be any blame-shifting in dating. Guys need women not only for sex but also to talk about feelings and deeper emotions. That´s in some cases easier with women than men.
We need women because a relationship to have someone we can care for.

It's never about need it's about wants. You can always manage without something unless that thing would kill you. Ie oxygen, food etc. So both genders can operate without the other, but neither will be completely satisfied. They would both be better off if they can work with the other half of the population.

Not totally true. A man will need women when things go very bad women just have different effect the hug is different the feeling is different and the companionship is different if she's good one. This is why God gave men an insatiable sex drive since men are the “thinkers” and “builders” we have shaped society much more than women this is an unpopular opinion but why are the vast majority of inventions and difficult jobs performed by men? Why are the vast majority of STEM careers occupied by men?
