Anyone is capable of growing and maturing. Are you asking if you should hold your breath till it happens? That's not something I'd recommend.

Any change made due to pressure from others tends to be temporary and/or conditional. You can ask him to describe his future and how he sees himself in that future. Then, ask him what he plans on doing to get from where he is to where he wants to be. Whatever happens, make sure it is his choice and not a result of your attempts to mold him.

I think it depends on the man, but for the most part, I have learned that if a man is being enabled, especially by his mom, to be immature, he will continue to do so.
