Is it true that “behind every great man, is a great woman”?

Question

We’ve all probably heard this expression used before. Would you agree or disagree with this assessment? The term is meant to be taken literally, implying that a great woman brings a great man. Also makes connotations to the fact that women aren’t often credited for the work they put into supporting their man but the recognition comes eventually with time.

, and most (but not "all") women in the modern day and age seem to just sap a man of his resources, happiness, and pride. I don't consider them "great men" at all, but just look at the recent divorces of Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates.  Women probably used to stand by a man and support him, but not in the modern day and age. All "modern" Western women seem to do is leech a man of his resources and then divorce him once they run dry. And there is FAR too much evidence out there that proves this. Even if  , it doesn't mean much when FAR FEWER PEOPLE are getting married!  Western women are more spoiled and entitled than ever, demanding perfect men who  , as they get Masters and Doctorate degrees, but still end up unhappy. While men are making less money than these women, and don't live up to their standards of literal male perfection. It's easy to just blame women for this problem, as they are the ones with all the leverage in dating and romance, but the fact is, men put up with their sh*t and have for far too long now. That's how you get a Simple Culture filled with OnlyFans, feet pics, and celebrating degeneracy of loose sex, Hookup Culture, and polyamory.  If anything, your chances of being a "great man" in the 21st century are far, FAR greater without a woman, then with one. At least you'll get to keep your money and more of your sanity that way. So... No, I don't agree with this, at all. Wish it WERE true. But reality is a cruel mistress.

Agree and disagree. I agree with the saying but i think you read way to into it. But from my perspective i tell my girlfriend, you can go get a job or you can suck my dick. If you get a job you make whatever $15 an hour times 8 hours is $120. Or you can suck my dick so im always relaxed and feel good to motivate me instead of making $1000 today i make $5000 because i had more motivation to bust my ass. Thats far more valuable to take care of me than it is to do something yourself.

Yeah most have a woman behind their back like mom, sister, friend or partner. But not all are lucky enough to get that support. However for me I have been always supported by my Dad, 2 cousin brothers, male friend and Piano Sir and yes they are men so the vice versa is applicable for me it's just that I'm not great lol. I'm saying again that gender have nothing to do here too. People get support from any gender and it's not necessary that women support men but men support women too. I will say that this quote isn't completely true.

I think the phrase is a bit antiquated. To me, in terms of a couple, it should be here is a great couple standing together. They both bring each other up, and support one another. Behind, implies, that the woman or the man is in their shadow. In the non literal sense, good people often have a circle of people that have helped them become who they are. I think it's best, just to thank them and know you didn't get there on your own.

It's false. Some of the greatest men I know are single, so there's that. And the reality is that great men simply have the ability to attract high quality women. That's all in the world it is.

Good people attract good people, but to imply a man is great because there is a great woman behind him is just nonsense.

It may be true in some cases, and even in those cases it is the mother of the man who has been with him. Women are generally not willing to build with a man and just wait at the finish line for a ready made man.

NO great man has EVER become great while with a woman. Women stifle males goals.

Are there women behind great men after they become great... sure as shit they are.

I disagree. Not necessarily, a great man could have been "great" long before he met the woman. Some are great even before they find a partner, and the woman might just add to it & help build.
