What is something you gained interest in through your partner?

Example: my boyfriend is a writer and I started learning about the history of linguistics from him. Lately I've been going on research sprees to discover cool things about translations and older versions of current languages (like how linguists figured out how to speak Ancient Egyptian.)

So what did you discover you really really like that you wouldn't have known if not for your partner?

I've got so many from my lovers. My exes always tended to get me into one or two new things.

With respect to my wife, she's huge on classical music and opera, for example. It's still not my favorite but I went to classical concerts and operas with her and I started to enjoy them.

She's also a ginger fanatic. I used to not care for ginger that much but it has also become one of my favorite foods/aromatics. She turned me into an addict with her cooking and also sharing dishes at restaurants together with lots of ginger inside.

Indian and French cuisine has also become my favorite through her. I never tried much French or Indian food until I met her, but she loved both and I quickly became hooked trying the restaurants she recommended.

She's also into kendo and judo. I'm still a beginner at both but I became a lot more interested in both through her.

I think she also got me a little more interested in proper etiquette. I was a rude and crude beer and pizza type of guy and a huge show-off while she was very refined and had the best of manners. So she made me a little bit more interested in being civil around people and not acting like a complete caveman.

There's a whole bunch of things but those are the ones off the top of my head.

Also Korean food. I used to despise Korean food, especially Kimchi, but my wife loves it and has cooked it so often that I've acquired a taste for it.

Let's see. I've got a bunch more but it's like I've assimilated so many of her tastes that I have to think hard to remember which ones were hers and which ones were mine to start. Oh, traveling. I used to hate traveling (even though I had to often for my work) but she loves traveling. I became fond of it as well for vacations.

Coffee! I never cared much for coffee but she loves coffee. Now I tend to have a cup almost every morning. She also loves just black coffee, no sugar, no cream. The only coffee I used to even be able to tolerate before I met her was coffee with loads of cream and sugar. But now my favorite is black coffee, just like her.

Also lots of B- horror films. She's a book editor and publisher by trade and one time she was editing a book focused on B- horror films. As part of understanding the material, she collected loads of DVDs with very cheesy horror films like Frankenhooker (now one of my favorite films).

Scented candies. Growing up my mom was allergic to many scents so we didn’t have them. But my first girlfriend enjoyed them and liked various scents. Now my house is full of scented candles because mom buys me one for Christmas and bdays lol

thats so sweet of your mom does it prevent her from being able to visit though or do you just make sure not to use them when you know she will be around

I became interested in Judaism through a Jewish guy I liked but now I just watch Jewish rabbis and the Jewish worship song - I have no intention of becoming Jewish. I don’t want to abandon my Christianity so I can’t become an culturally accepted Jew.

I learned a lot about sports from him. I never was into it but like watching with him because he likes it. I cheer for the teams he supports.

Do you trust your boyfriend? if you say you do, don't worry about her. Women always blame the other woman when their man cheats. It's not the woman's fault if he does. It is a decision he makes. If he says no, how can she be with him? If he says yes, that is a decision he makes. He is solely responsible for that decision. Remember this... jealously will always make you miserable and it also ruins a relationship. Being jealous means you don't trust the other person. Without real trust, you don't have a good relationship.
