It's really not my thing. We could be friends in that case and just stop sleeping with each other completely. We can love each other affectionately as friends without sex and romance. When we're involving romance and sex, I want it to be exclusive. I'm wired to think monogamously.

I think here at least in Japan most women are still wired monogamously. Our culture is very different here though, and somewhat traditional. I wonder why I so despise this idea though to the point of repulsion. I'm into trying to criticize my views from the most rational perspective to try to understand them. Polyamory seems practical enough with modern birth control.

I don't think it's coming from a possessive place like, "She is mine and no one else can have her!" I don't think in terms that my wife is really mine. She's a free spirit. The best I can do is try to be a decent husband and attract her to my side.

I think it's mostly just a huge difference in values and ideals.

Any woman into open relationships would have ideas of love and romance and sexuality that are so thoroughly different from mine. And that's so incompatible since the greatest thing I seek from a lover is compatibility on the romantic and sexual front since I can't have romantic and sexual relationships with my friends being a monogamous type. My lover is the one I exclusively devote my romantic and sexual desires towards.

I tend to think sexual and romantic compatibility is the most important compatibility for lovers. That's not to say it's the most important to keep them together. But I think it's the most important to keep them as lovers and not just two people stuck with each other.
