Is it gay that he mentions his old pal often?

so my boyfriend and I been together for almost three years. He had a old pal that was one of best friends they did a lot together. They got into it over my boyfriend telling him that his homies girlfriend was fooling around his back and things went south and they didn’t talk, that same pal reached out and my boyfriend accepted the apology but says things are different and whatever. He sometimes mentions that some person reminds him of that same friend he has said it twice or three times where he will mention that someone reminds him of his friend or that his friend used to love that or something it’s not all the time but is it gay that he mentions that?
