I've been with my boyfriend for around 8-9 months and we have been living together for about 4 of those months.

A few months back he decided to share his Google photos, so I can see the photos on his phone. The other day I noticed he had screenshot some images of a woman (roughly 40's) wearing lingerie and posing provocatively. I was shocked when I saw this. The curiosity got the better of me, so I took his phone and had a look, turns out he had been messaging this woman on WhatsApp.

When I confronted him about it, he lied then said he was curious one day as an add popped up on his phone, and it sends the escort an automatic 'hi how are you' type message to their WhatsApp. What I don't understand is, why he proceeded with the conversation? He asked her how much she charges, where she was located and even said she was beautiful. He said to me it was a joke and he giving her those responses to see what she would say. He reckons he only cares about and wants to be with me. He said he would never have gone through with it. I'm still shocked as I didn't realise he was capable of this.

Is this guy wasting my time or is this a 'last chance and you're gone' situation? 🤔

If I were you, I would have instantly broke up with him. If it was a mere “joke”, why didn’t he inform you of this said prank beforehand? Think about this, doesn’t it mean he takes your relationship as a joke as well?

He is trying to cover up his mistake by being deceitful and manipulative. You have mentioned that he even asked how much the person charged and even complimented them. This clearly insinuates that he had sexual intentions and was going to pursue her. He would have obviously lied to you since you busted him.

It is extremely disrespectful to hide this “prank” which is of sexual nature, from your SO.

You have two options: You can either choose to believe him and set clear boundaries OR you can break up with him and find someone who would not engage in such tomfoolery.

Give him a chance. Don’t get too attached or emotionally dependent on him. Set clear boundaries and make it VERY clear that you’ll be gone if he engages in such silly nonsense again.

For me, that would be a breakup. He broke your trust. If it was just a joke, why couldn’t he tell you when he was going to pull that “joke”? Why wouldn’t he show you the messages if he was just messing around? He hid it, so it obviously wasn’t a joke of any sort. It’s not something I would stay with, it was disrespectful for him to do that.


If you choose to stay with him, I would talk to him and tell him that you won’t stick with him if he does this stuff again. Give him an ultimatum, set boundaries. It’s up to you, but I would also talk to him about your guys sex life. Why did he talk to an escort? Is he not happy in your sex life? That’s something you two should discuss.
