Why would a guy stay in a 6 year relationship with someone he didn’t love?

Why would anyone stay in a relationship that has lost love. The reality is that we as people in this category are quite odd.
Hell we will stay in the relationship knowing that it’s a bad relationship just off of the fact that we don’t know what else is out there, and we’re too afraid to break the bad to look so we stay in the same relationship Whether it is bad or not. Sad right!


Men and women alike In addition call to the mentality that if they stay together long enough somehow the problems will just work themselves out, but when does problems ever actually work themselves out without any type of real intervention or work on the part of the people who have the problem.
In earnest What typically happens most of the time is that the issues just gets buried for years, and pops back up at random.



The best thing for these two to do in the situation they are in is to really go get therapy, and determine whether they should even be in relationship to begin with. Those six years May been real nice, but six years of unspoken misery might be a little much. You’d be often amazed by the things that people don’t say even more so than what they do say.


The thing to also keep in mind is the love however powerful thing is also fleeting. Love doesn’t stay the same that it was at the discovery of the love. Two for both parties changes and develops as the relationship changes and develops. Sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worst love has a amazing way to bring people together, and this amazing ability to fade away and leave people with lovelessness.


Sometimes the issues just go on too long, sometimes the issues are too big, sometimes even though the issues are addressed the damage could already be done. One thing you can guarantee though is that time is but a number, and if people don’t address what’s going on inside then the relationship is doomed to fail.


So to more directly answer your question why would a guy stay in a six-year relationship with someone they don’t love, well for the same reason as a woman. That reason is fear, uncertainty, I hope to work things out, a hope that things will change, and ironically enough a fear of change.
That said the most importantly these things alone do not lead to a loveless relationship, but not addressing Or caring about them as valuable things to address in a relationship dose lead to the very prolonged, and a long process of love loss which happens slow and gradually overtime.


How do we avoid that issue we are open with our partner, and make sure to create a safe space where they can be open with us.

There is an old saying that goes, "if you can not be with the one you love, then love the one your with." Which is say; "a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush."

Some men would rather be with some one than no one, but that doesn't mean they love you... but 16 years definitely suggest he likes you and can tolerate your company enough to love you a lot, but never discount the motivations of people.

It could be several things…
1. It’s still a working relationship. Relationships are more than just attraction and being in love. Eventually it does come down to, can I do the daily mundane life with this person. They might not be in love but everything else works.

2. The sex is great so just keep it going

3. A fear of not being able to find anyone else.

4. Staying together for the kids…which is never the way to go if you are constantly fighting.

5. A sense of responsibility for whatever reason that they need to stay by that person’s side.

The same reason a woman would: insecurity, familiarity, convenience, and inertia.

Breaking up is painful and often a lot of work, especially if you've been together a long time. A lot of people, men and women alike, will choose to stay rather than have to face all of that, even when they should have broken up long before. It's not healthy, but it's not that uncommon either.
