Why some men stayed in the relationship even though he doesn't love her?

My cousin shared his secret to me. He never love her but he decided to stay with her. They are 6 years in the relationship. I asked him why... he said he doesn't know. He can't break up with her.. He prefer his girlfriend will initiate first. He never cheated her. He said it's find for him if her girlfriend cheated.

I ask why " How do u cope pain"
He said " the advantage of LDR is to numb the pain"

Maybe he started to date her out of pity or it was a YOLO moment and he wasn’t thinking. Like, “Sure, why not?” going through his head.



What’s keeping him from breaking up with her may be fear of hurting her feelings. Or not wanting to be the bad guy. Not wanting to be a jerk. Not wanting the uncomfortable conversation. So in short: Fear.


I’ve been there before in one of my earlier relationships. I didn’t want to hurt her feelings. I didn’t want to make her cry. She was happy with me. She wanted to get married. But I wasn’t happy with her. The end result? Feeling dead inside.

If you two aren’t right for each other. If you two aren’t BOTH fulfilled being with each other. It’s a mercy to end things early. You only have a short time on this earth. Do you think they will be happy finding out that you’re actually really unhappy being with them? It’s not fair to them to have their eyes veiled to the harsh truth and it’s not fair to yourself either. It’s best to part ways so you two can find someone you ACTUALLY feel fulfilled being with. The clock is ticking. Stop wasting their limited time. Don’t make them waste their life on you if you’re gonna be like this. Let them go. For their sake. It’s the right thing to do. Otherwise, you’re taking away their limited time on this earth, and that’s something they can never get back.

What's his dating history? Maybe he thinks this the best he can do. Most people in relationships truthfully don't love thier partner. To Most people thier partner is just a matter of status. They'll trade them in when something better comes along. Or cashiut whe. Thier partner gets to be to much of a weight on them.
