How would you feel if the person you are dating had a very large number of notifications?

I let my friend’s boyfriend borrow my phone, and when he gave it back to me he said that he is glad Sunny (my friend) doesn’t have that many notifications, because it would make him feel anxious. I have close to 1,500 text and 800 voicemail notifications. How would you feel and what would you think if your partner had that many notifications?

I have around 693 and I don’t even read half of them. I only use discord for chatting with my friends and WhatsApp for family. Not my first preference, but I receive a lot of spam texts on iMessages and I’ve just muted all my notifications for it.. lol.

To answer your question, I won’t think anything of it. Maybe they hate texting and have tons of messages piled up.. maybe it’s a group chat or maybe it’s just a shit ton of spam/junk messages.

To be honest, 800 unopened voice messages sounds horrifying.. like have they never opened any of their voice messages at all? I would probably wonder why they have so many notifications, but won’t make a big deal out of it.

All good. Anyway, the main thing is that control of another person's phone or life is just too crazy to be healthy. Why would I want to be with someone who wouldn't want me to have a life, an existence all of my own? Or why would they want to be with me if I was checking every aspect of the life they've been living for longer than I've been around them. That's so far from care, from love and from respect that there wouldn't be anything left to enjoy about them.

I'm anti-smartphone anyway, so on the basis I would be competing [often with trivial unnecessary things they could do at home on a computer] for attention nearly the entire relationship, I regard it a waste of time, would probably pick up some literary fiction (Jane Austen, etc.), at least even if the story is a bit trivial I'm still developing my focus, brain, and vocabulary, while they destroy theirs with their digital drugs.

I would be irritated only if they didn’t clear the push notifications. I can’t stand a phone screen with notification badges all over it drives me nuts!!! Turn off notifications, clear them, or never let me see that you have 5,000+ notifications for 5000+ emails the majority of which are probably spam! I don’t even wanna think about what the inside of that email inbox looks like!!! 😱
