He apparently thought the grass would be greener elsewhere and feels a need to blame someone for it not being so. This is his garbage, and you don't need to catch his garbage. Just see it as his problem, not yours. If he's just gathering information, there's not much you can do (other than secure your information), but if you don't feel safe, due to his actions, file for a restraining order to keep him away. Stay safe, and don't give him ammunition he can later use against you.
