Personally I don't believe in them because I think that a person needs his or her partner near him or she. I think long distance relationship are hard to maintain and a lot of times they fail because of the lack of physical contact. I believe physical contant is important so I don't believe I would be able to have one.

I feel the same way you do in order to have a real Connection in order to really show that person how much you care you want her to feel you for who you are feel your energy your touch your kiss you want them to feel who you really are it's an emotion it's a bond and it's beautiful it's hard to get that long distance I think most people probably 97% of people that have a long distance relationship is because they become a friend there is something sexual about it whether it's on the internet are on the phone there is a bond it's just not like the bond that you can have in real life it's you can be beautiful there could be a very very good friendship that would last forever and it might even go further but it depends on the two people
I've been in quote unquote long distance relationships like that and it can be a very beautiful thing but real life real touch real experiences real emotion is 10 times better I believe anyway for me but I do welcome a long distance relationship when I'm single and I'm single so just being honest
If a couple begins living in the same vicinity, get involved in a relationship, and are then separated by circumstances (such as work or school,) then I respect them making the effort to keep going despite the miles between them.
If a couple begins as a long distance relationship, my initial reaction is that they are both probably desperate or too scared to actually have a real relationship so they are maintaining the LDR to convince themselves that they are dating when, in truth, they have never met in person.

Physical contact is important, yes, but it all comes down to visiting each other often, and self-control. It is hard, I admit, but the couple has to be willing to make it work. You need to have love, patience, kindness, peace and forgiveness in a long distance relationship. It is not a cake walk.
It also depends on the type of long distance relationship
If were talking "we live out of state but can see each other every month or so" then what you want to do is text semi frequently and make plans for the next visit
If it's "I'm in another country and will rarely be able to visit" then you want to work on setting a schedule and learning fun things you can do over the phone or online Sexting will help but Skype will be your best friend ;) also you can buy each other sex toys to spice things up and finally online games will be almost necessary
I had one for three years. We saw each other 3 or 4 times a a year. I put in 90% of the effort to maintain this relationship. One day I just decided it was not worth it anymore and I wanted to find somebody new. I called her late one Saturday night and broke up with her over the phone.
I'm shocked when people say the don't believe in lobe distance relationships cause that tells me the don't believe in love cause as you know if you truly love some one and your willing to work at it it can work. If you can avoid it, then you should. It almost never work, unless you can see each other very regularly. Been there, done that, and it was a disaster both times. That being said, I know that if I met a girl I like online, I'd do it again.
