What does taking a break mean in a relationship? Do people see it as a time to date/sleep with others?

It means different things to different people. Some people just look at it as still a relationship but you kinda a small kind of like vacation from the relationship. Others view it as an unofficial break in the relationship and everything that goes with it. In this version one or both parties might be open to seeing what or who else is out there as a way of finding out if they actually want something or someone else and the break was for a reason.

The reason for the break is that I suspected she cheated on me and we fought and things got bad for awhile. Then she suggested a break.

Yeah a lot of times the break is one or the other is looking for something to validate them leaving the relationship. That's why some couples will seek attention from other people during the break.

I think it means different things to different people. To me in the past it used to just be times of no communication to let me think about things, but our relationship status never changed. To some people it means a temporary break up and being with others. If your partner asked you for one ask to set out terms of what the break means to you guys.

I have before. . . she says she didn't. But she has lied to my face about things before.

When I stop talking to her for some days after a fight she fills my voicemail with crying and messages me a dozen times.

But when things are good and I ask her about her day she NEVER says anything. "I worked", and she often disappears without a word.

Watching the Johnny Depp trial. . . it was shocking to me how much Amber Heard reminded me of her. . . .

Clear sign to break up! Don't waste your life with someone who isn't trustworthy, doesn't communicate and doesn't make you happy. It's not worth it.

I understand, but it's simple. Relationships should cause you happiness, and give you support. If you're always fighting, upset or worried it's not going to work.

It's an excuse to fuck others without feeling guilty for cheating.. And I guarantee she already has multiple men lined up too. Your best bet is to break it off and find someone better. Anyone that says "let's take a break" aren't capable of being in a long term committed relationship. I know this from experience.

It means that they’re not that crazy about you anymore. They probably want to play the field before they commit to a lengthy relationship. Play hard to get instead of kissing their ass if you don’t want rejection.
