Can people change when falling in love?

I like myself as I am but if I get in a relationship or fall in love will I change for the better or worse, and will I like it?

In a healthy relationship, people fine tune themselves as a result of that relationship. They care about their partner and choose to be considerate of that person's thoughts, feelings and preferences. Their basic essence doesn't change.

If their basic essence changes, we're not talking about a healthy relationship. That usually happens as a result of some type of manipulation or control... from either direction. Those changes tend to be temporary and/or conditional.

Sometimes a person's basic essence changes as a result of growth (not necessarily related to the relationship). That happens when people are still resolving adolescence when they commit to another and is a result of the normal maturing process.

Yes that is right people do change when they are in love or when they fall in love and as you said they can change for the better.

However, this is not applicable to everyone who falls in love. Some people will never change no matter what. I think it would depend on the person. Love has nothing to do with a person changing themselves.

If a person really wants to become a better version of themselves then they can start changing and improving whenever they want, they don't need LOVE or new year resolutions to change themselves. Such people will be self driven to change.

For the question you asked at the end?

Yes if a person becomes a better version of themselves surely they will like it because they will be better than who they were earlier. Hence you will like it too, I am sure.

People don't change. Instead, they either get to finally be themselves around someone without criticism, or they act fake to please their partner (until they snap and breakup).

yes they can. but they will return back to how they were once the "madly in love" feeling goes away. and it will go away.
