If you have a question about your SO's opinions, as in "what do you think he/she _____", why do you ask people on here instead of just asking your SO?

If you have a harder time talking to your SO than a bunch of random internet strangers, just break up. Because thats a HUGE red flag (even without considering the fact that your SO actually has the real answer, and we don't).

Because people want validation for feeling or thinking the way the think and and feel. When you get into a serious relationship with some one, you get caught up sometimes trying to understand and relate to the other person, so you got to step back for a minute and digest your own true feelings and beliefs before you loss yourself in the relationship.

So it is not that you they don't talk to the other person, necessarily. But when your emotions are so intertwined with someone else's you just need to do a sanity check with complete strangers, because not everyone wants to discuss intimate details with friends or family.

If it is not serious relationship it tough sometime trying to figure out the best way to approach someone on a sensitive topic... so you want ideas. You want to be validated for having your own feelings and sometimes you do not get that from the other person, but strangers have a way of reminding you of who you are and what you feel and believe because they are unvetted with the honesty.

I feel many do this out of not wanting to cause any unnecessary problems within their relationship so flocking to the internet to get an outside perspective that is more likely to be less biased than asking a friend or family member seems optimal. As well as the disconnect that comes with asking personal questions on the internet. people can judge but they dont know who that person really is so the judgments can be left where they were placed.

Depends. Some people already asked and maybe want to seek other's opinions to make sure theyre not crazy or making the wrong decision.
