Relationship problem?

general question, i have a partner we have been going out for a year now today’s actually our 1 year and 5 months. but just a few days ago they basically broke up with me and i was fine with it i mean it sucked because i still liked them i really did but a few minutes after the break up message they “changed their mind” and thats what got me confused because did they generally change their mind or did they just feel bad, because if it was for any other reason i need to know as if they aren’t happy in the relationship i might cut it off to make them be in a more happy place relationship wise snd in general, they’ve also been quite distant from me since then its been slowly happening anyways but just to give people an idea. my partner goes by they/them so please be respectful with what you say. anything would be appreciated thank you. :)
