He told me to piss off, what now?

He asked if he could phone me and update me on something so I replied with "ok :) by the way I legit thought you said you're about to run into a door" I read his message quickly and it said he was about to run out the door.

Next morning I got woken up by 18 messages calling me an entitled princess, telling me he's pissed off with everything including me so "piss off and leave me alone".

So I told him that he doesn't need to visit now (long distance) that I'm disgusted by how he acted because I did nothing to deserve it and that I will indeed piss off and leave him alone.

And that was it, no response, no apologies, no explanation for his outburst.

What are my next steps, I feel that I fully deserve an apology at least.

You mentioned he asked if he could call you to update you on something, did he?
Or did he go straight to the messages flipping out?
Either way, the way he behaved, doesn't sound like someone to be in a healthy, stable relationship with...
While people should apologize when they treat people like shit, they hardly ever do and while you deserve an apology, it's probably better to just not have any contact or he'll most likely just try to excuse his behavior (I was having a bad day, I was under a lot of pressure, etc etc) when there's no excuse to treat people like that..

Obviously a misunderstanding although I have no clue what about. Maybe the update itself would be a key to solving? Maybe running out the door was the update but that would mean something earlier pissed him off and he had a very strange and excessively thought out plan of revenge if it was. That’s a stretch and a half but all I can glean. If it is the case you dodged a bullet. More likely something missing in what you shared or what your considering. Maybe instead of responding in anger just tell him you are hurt by it and don’t understand what you did but want to know to improve yourself. See if he bites.

It's easy to say he's weird and definitely should be avoided. I don't know what set him off like that, but something did. Maybe he's dealing with mental health issues or perhaps he feels entitled or something. That's weird.
