My wife wants to open a butcher store and make me work with her. I don't want to?

Her father is a butcher and she trained with him, but decided it was not for her and went on to work as a nurse.

Now she changed her mind and wants to open her own store + processing plant.

I support her ambition, but I don't want to work with her, simply put I already have a rewarding career and cutting meat does not (no pun intended) cut it for me. She says she'd like me to run the administration of the store, but I simply don't want to. How can I tell her without making her feel unsupported? It's her thing and I respect it, and I think it should be her own.

Well, I am a firm bekiever in people following their dreams. I am also against people being forced to do what doesn't fulfill them.

Just say that you support her dreams but you don't want to be directly involved. You can indirectly support her by picking up the slack in other areas at home or whatever with her starting up this business.

You help spread the word in your own social and business circles, etc.

Don’t tell her you DON’T want to do her thing. Tell her you are HAPPY doing your thing. If she’s a good person, she won’t jeopardize your happiness for her bizarre ambitions. If she decides to prioritize her ambitions over your happiness, you have a very difficult decision to make. I submit that the marriage is doomed regardless of your decision if she does feel that way.

I say try to be apart of it and help, bigger work load sure, but you might end up helping her get started and enjoy it or at least help her get successful. I've a friend who is in a similar situation but he is inheriting his son's grandfathers butcher shop and he loves being a butcher.
