My boyfriend always thinks my child is being smart towards him is he blowing things out of proportion?

Sometimes she plays around a lot but I feel like today he blew things out of proportion me and my daughter was sitting in the living room. he came out of our room and she asked him where was he going he responded to her and asked me what i needed from the store. and then walked away and said "see what I'm saying" he claimed she asked him the question twice trying to be smart but she only asked him once we got into a argument because this. I feel like every child does that and he could've just ask her to stop asking him the same question.

And last night she asked him questions repeatedly he said he felt like she was Doing the same thing today and last night to be smart and irritate him
