All you can do is be there for your friend, there isn't much else you can do if she is unwilling to come forward. Even if you try she can refuse to press charges, and then you risk destroying your friendship. Then you also run the risk of the aggressor becoming angry with you. At the end of the day these types of people pick their victims very carefully, because they are conditioned to accept the abuse... so there is strong chance your friend will deny or resent you for trying to intervene. But even if she is willing to do anything about it she will have to take direct action herself, like finding safe place to live, and going through the courts to get an restraining orders, but unless she is going to the emergency room or calling the police to document the abuse there could be difficulties going through the courts. I mean photos are nice and all but without something from the doctors that documents the injuries... well it all needs to start with your friend.

Keep in mind, too, in one states, the police will arrest the abuser even if the victim doesn’t want to press charges. And, in one case, it wasn’t my best friend, it was a coworker, she said she couldn’t afford the $700 to pay the divorce attorney. I paid it.

I have saved my bestfriend from her babies daddy/ husband who was abusive to the dog, her and the kids. I helped her attain a attorney. I told her about all the resources available to her.

If I didn't know for sure I'd ask her if everything is good with her and her spouse and to be honest with me, and if she says no i'd say, can i stay at her place for a bit. And if no, i'd ask how her how her bruises or scratches got on her, and then let it go if its not her spouse, but if her spouse was hurting her i'd make her stay at my place for a bit for safety and call the cops on her spouse.

Pull her out, take pictures of any bruises or cuts, take her to the police and report it or the ER first, if she's injured and they'll call the police.

The solution is to call the police and hand it off to them. Being hotheaded and trying to play the hero often just makes the situation more dangerous. The police has got a whole playbook on what to do in these kinds of scenarios.

thank you very much very helpful suggestion I did hand it off to the police he is in jail now and she now lives with me and is also my fiancé' , and yes if he even threatens her again im going be all over him trust me

well he has made some phone calls to her since being in jail threating her that it will be worse when he gets out, and I dont blame you on that one either I did and would do it again.
