Why would you play mind games with someone you like?

I could list a few reasons why but if you like a person and wanted to actually be with them why would you play mind games?

Sometimes it feels like women are playing mind games. There are so different from us sometimes we can interpret their interactions as being mind games. What is an example?

Jealousy is one used prominently by both genders, it's effective to those who are immature. Basically, it's a way of wanting the other person fighting to you and prove you really like them. Ghosting/submarining is also another awful, it's normally one sided and has been studied that ghosting someone can lead to mental health issues and then the worst one of all is leading someone on even though you don't like them to boost your ego. All of these have something in common and that it's used my immature and insecure individuals. Mind games tend to be used by people with narcissistic traits or people whom fall on the Dark triad group.

Insecurity. You can't believe that the person would just like you for you, so you put them through a bunch of crap to make sure that they are willing to stick around when you treat them like garbage.

I never play mind games, I’m nervous around the guy I like but until I talk to him or am given his number I won’t know if he likes me
