What should I do when my boyfriend comes in September?

My long distance boyfriend is coming to see me in September. I am scared I will miss him and not be able to get out the house. I told him to stay close to my hometown so we can at least have lunch or hang out in the evening, probably late a night. Should I tell my family or should I not? They are very over protective and they would be worried. I have been talking to this man for a long time and i really want to meet him.

It sounds like you’re sneaking to see him, which makes me wonder why be in that relationship? If your age is accurate, then you are very much an adult and allowed to date as you please. Your worries about how your family would perceive this relationship may have been something to deeply consider before deciding to be with this guy, especially if you value their opinions to this extent. But clearly you’ve fallen for him enough to be in a relationship and arrange to meet up, so own your decision. If he is coming to specifically see you, then you shouldn’t limit time to just an evening dinner and late night whatever. Find daytime activities, there are so many even inexpensive. Make it a nice visit for him and memorable for you both.

I should also add that the longer you wait, the bigger of a bomb it will seem like you dropped on your family. Next weekend we are into August, so telling them sooner rather than later is for the best.
