…… uhh in the olden days men owned their wives... as in property. Women didn't even have basic human rights. Ever heard of the saying "rule of thumb"? that was in regards to how large of a stick you could used to beat your wife, it couldn't be wider than the width of his thumb. The 19th amendment wasn't even enacted until 1920, where women are enfranchised on an equal basis with men, the same year it was made illegal to beat your wife in the united states. Spousal rape wasn't even recognized as a crime in the untired states until 1979... so what were you saying about how there was mutual respect in the olden days?

The civil rights act, prohibiting sex discrimination wasn't enacted until 1964.. women had no legal right to contraception until 1965.. women had no legal right to serve on a jury until 1975...…
