What is rare in today’s world is that couples after 20 or 30 years of being together or even a couple of years, for that matter still feel the same excitement and sexual passion that was there at the beginning of their relationship.

2. Of course relationships change as you are together for a longer period of time.
3. People also get older and more settled as they get more time in their relationship. If a couple has been together for 20 years, that means that they are a minimum of 35 years old. How you feel about sex at age 35 is much different than how you feel about sex at age 21.
4. Most (but not all) people discover what they like after having a few relationships, and they are not always seeking something different. It's kinda like when older people go to the same restaurant on a regular basis, most of them order the same thing every time; they don't have an agenda of trying everything on the menu.
Travel together, find a cause you're both interested in. The purpose of a relationship should not be excitement. A relationship gives you the steady footing to now go and help others. There's a lot of suffering out there in this world. A whole lot. Getting out and helping others is the best way to increase the value and gratitude for what you already have. And by no means am I saying you aren't grateful for what you do have. But admiration and passion comes out of service towards a greater cause.

If you're trying to recapture at 40 what you had at 20, you're an idiot, and you're aiming for disappointment.
At 40 you should be breaking new rarified ground, not usually seen in most modern relationships.
