What is he trying to do?

We went on first date, it went well, but after 2-3 days, he said something I got a little uncomfortable with, when I expressed it to him, he felt embarrassed and ended things with me saying that he feels a huge void between us.. I was amazed because when we were on talking stage, he said how he's falling for me and now just because I did wasn't comfortable with what he said, he wanted to end things.. I got hurt and said many things to him and we ended everything.. 2-3 days later, I apologized to him only because I was so much into him that I wanted to save the connection, but, he left me on read.. We did not block each other or delete each other's number.. He used to add status on whatsApp everyday and I could see him enjoying his life.. It went on for two months.. We didn't speak a word.. But a few days back, it was my birthday and I got a message from his side.. He wished me.. We didn't talk much.. Just asked each other how we were, and nothing else.. Now the cycle is repeating, he's again uploading status, and I am viewing it or vice versa.. It feels as if he's waiting for me to start a conversation and meet up.. What is all of it?
