Why do people show off their significant others?

i feel like talking about your lovers isn’t bad at all but what does it mean if someone is constantly showing you pictures of their lover and talking about them? especially if you’re not close to the person at all (or their lovers). am i supposed to say something specific?

I feel like everyone has their own reasons, but for me it's because she makes me incredibly happy and I don't meet enough people to share that happiness with. It's like a kid trying to show off his favorite toy - everyone needs to see how amazing she is.

People that just fuck anyone with a dick or a vagina wouldn't understand. You don't have any more rapport with your "lovers" than others would with a male or female prostitute.

It's not bragging rights, it's pride. That person is PROUD they have this other person.

Like said people who sleep around wouldn't understand because most times you're not proud of your partner they're just a convenience. Like, as said, to others what a prostitute is.

I think social media is 90% showing off your life, whether real or not. My mother makes sure she gets a pic of every dinner we have with them. All to upload and probably get “likes”. she's prob more interested in getting FB likes than why we aren't connecting.

They're probably just happy to have that person in their life. They're proud to have them in other words. That's usually what it is in most cases. On the flip side to that sometimes they can be arrogant about it like "yeah haha look what I have and you don't" but it really depends on the situation

Because they are proud to have someone in their life partner wise and they are happy and want to share their happy moments with you. Why not think positively and be happy that they are happy?

It's showing a part of their life they feel either is a big part, or recently had a large shift in. Look a few photos, then ask what else is going on in their life, if they bring it back to their partner, repeat "what ELSE", and hope they understand.

Same reason guys post pictures of a massive fish they caught. They want to show off. Just don't let it go to your head, but judging by your profile pic you already have 🙄

It's just annoying if they're constantly showing off their partner. I would take that to be a sign of insecurity about the relationship, honestly.

Maybe they’re proud? Which just hurts those they’re showing off to. Especially if the one they’re showing off to is single and has been for a very long time
