I don't "believe" in things when it comes to relationships, I don't idealize them

I have plenty of experience so I know way better than to go with beliefs and in my experience, the most rewarding, the most healthy and the most successful to me, comes from balance, from mutual agreement and from an actual dynamic in which two people adjust to each other... and not just one or the other subjugating to the other

that's my experience though... others might want and have different and perhaps it works for them, which is fine, for them...

There are plenty of situations where one individual presumes the relationship has started and the other one is still somewhat unsure. These are important conversations to have so that neither individual is hurt or confused about where the path is leading. Sexual activity can often be accompanied by the thought of the relationship as monogamous, and when that is not the case, often people get hurt. The other end of the discussion needs to be focused on whether or not someone is going to lie to get what they want. That’s probably another question couples always have to address in the early stages of dating.

If you refer to how many people think the guy decides when the relationship is established, I do not now & and I have never seen any reason to believe this.

As far as how relationships develop, both parties have to mutually want to be together and discuss that. If only one person wants a relationship it can feel like the other person is a hate keeper but in reality it’s just that only one is interested. Not all women want a relationship and not all women who want a relationship, want a relationship with every guy they date. Just like the same for men. And the same for same sex.

How it seems to go so far as I can tell is that women are the gatekeepers of sex while men are gatekeepers of relationship to begin with. Obviously there are exceptions to every general rule.

Re: update: No; usually the woman has to say it first. Because women are very slippery and they intentionally avoid any talk of love or relationships. So, for that reason, many men don't even bother bringing it up, because they know it's no use and they'll never get anywhere.
