not quite... I think the root is in ignorance and self-hatred
because if you're ignorant, and bitter with so much self-hatred... that starts to show up as disrespect and hatred for others, especially those that are different to you... and that's when all kinds of issue start to show up in societies
No. I've always said the root of most of society's problems is sh*tty parenting. A lack of respect could come from sh*tty parenting, but it more likely comes from money and power. Just look at the current United States president (or maybe even the last one).
The presidents are ragged doormats themselves. Just look how obviously trannified is the whole trump family, who have definitely experienced satanic rituals and pedophile orgies. And look at others below this opinion discuss this topic dumbassedly.
Stress and fear causes mindlessness even with good parenting...
Unfortunately I think in the United States it goes deeper. It's a lack of common sense. Which then creates and increases other lacks such as lack of respect.
Case in point: When millions of brainwashed GOP voters believe that Democratic spin-doctors, who could not organize an orgy in a whorehouse, were able TO STEAL A FEDERAL ELECTION, something is really broken.
Not only is this obviously true, but it's a fact that Trump's people planned to call the results fixed even though they KNEW there was no evidence to prove it. But yes, the Dems could NOT organize a sex party in a whore house, very good analogy. Yet, they could steal a national election. Fucking hilarious. Makes you realize just how fucking dumb Trump supporters actually are!
You just have to observe and evaluate the people actually involved: Howard Hunt and the plumbers for the Nixon administration. Karl Rove for the Bush Jr. administration. Ghouliani as personal counsel for Trump. All these people have a certain amount of darkness, ill will and cynicism in them. Even if they wanted, the Democratic spin-doctors could never get into that sewer.
Standards in general. People now days pretend to be nice so someone could complement them on how nice they are, so they feel good about them selves and post it on social medias. So on and so on, people don't even try anymore
That and as well people are so selfish and unkind. As the wise Chaplin said and his words are still true more than ever "More than machinery we need humanity, more than cleverness we need kindness".
You were raised to feign respect, even if you don't need it, it's essentially the same as lying to yourself, you can't respect someone you've never met, that's why it's simply more courteous to respect someone after they've done something worth being respected for, showing respect just because they're old is simply naivety, what happens if they're a horrible person? Could you still respect them? Of course not.
Certainly, seems that way, but I don't view it as a new phenomenon. From my experience, it is just worsening. It seems to be much worse in the large cities, LA, NYC, et cetera.
Part of it. It all starts at home and with you. Rude or spoiled, it starts at home. I normally speak when I enter a room or at least greet someone. If people don't return the greeting, I don't speak to them or look them in the face until they greet me.
Well respect should be earnt first and foremost... the issues of today is people demanding or expecting respect without earning it. Not even sure if I believe that but just thought I'd throw an alternative opinion into the mix... I mean that's how I earn respect lol

True enough - each of those individuals are suckwads, especially Rove and Hunt. Guiliani is just an idiot.

I like that... So true
Yes 100 percent so tho I do feel like a lot of problems aslo steam from stereotyping however yet again that would be lacking respect.
I would agree... Stereotyping by gender or race is stupid and agree a lack of respect to e person as an individual
Exactly, it embodies ignorance and you can't respect what you are to stupid to understand.
Lol again agree
No.
Honestly, I find people more respectful and approachable today than when I was growing up.
It's just that there's growing intolerance for bigots and it's making the vocal minority of bigots very butthurt.
If you're a decent person, people are generally quite nice.
I don't think it's a problem more people are willing to call out problematic behaviours.
Lack of respect because their are too many sneaky shady narcissistic people
That's certainly true
Yes thinking your better leads to disrespect and insulting
Yeah I definitely know someone who fits that bill...
What you say should apply to disrespect as well...
Yes. People demand the right to express their opinions but often fail to respect others with different opinions.
True true
Absolutely. Nowadays people feel as if they are entitled so instead of appreciating things they more or less expect everything
So so so true
Certainly, seems that way, but I don't view it as a new phenomenon. From my experience, it is just worsening. It seems to be much worse in the large cities, LA, NYC, et cetera.
yes I think so, because there's barely any community anymore, where that actually matters.
So true
I think it's more of a lack of empathy than respect.
I think that comes into play too
I would say it is most likely a big part of the problem.
I think so as well
Actually, to a large degree, I must say "Yes". At 59, I've seen the degradation and it is definitely a contributing factor to the shitstorm we have.
lack of respect is a big deal. Doing things the right way is the best deal :)
Agree with that
:) :) :)
