Yes, they CAN work out, and most especially when a couple started out when they were living near each other and then circumstances caused a separation. If a couple begins as a LDR, it is much more difficult to keep the energy and interest sustained.

The question you should be asking is not whether they CAN work but HOW OFTEN do they work. But that may lead to an answer you don't want to hear.

Once in a blue fucking moon 🤷‍♂️ the distance is too much for one person or the other and then there's the loneliness factor that comes in when you don't get to see your SO as often as you want, if at all. After a while one might think there are better options locally, which there usually are for a few reasons. It's just difficult for long distance stuff to even work

It definitely can! My wife and I were long distance for years and have been living together now after closing the distance
