Is it a dealbreaker if the female partner outweighs the male?

A group of friends and I were discussing this since several of our wives have gained quite a bit of weight since we got married and had kids. My wife outweighs me by about 75 pounds and it doesn’t bother me. When I asked the other husbands, they were saying they were very bothered by their wives gaining weight and said it even makes them feel emasculated. I didn’t think it was a big deal but apparently it bothers a lot of people.

After a woman has kids her body changes, that’s a fact, usually hips get wider, more stretch marks, quite often loose skin on the stomach especially (which can make them weigh more, or appear ‘bigger’, or like it’s fat) - and 99% of the time it can’t be reversed, it’s just a consequence of giving birth or being pregnant. Any guy who is gonna leave his wife for this in my opinion is horrible. Like what did you think was gonna happen? A woman who you love gives you arguably the greatest thing in life, a child, goes through so much pain doing so and changes to her own body and struggles, and then you leave her because she looks a little different? So shallow!


I can understand struggling with maybe feeling like you aren’t attracted to your partner if they have gained a lot of weight (like 100lbs, not 10lbs), due to other things like eating junk all the time. But I think rather than just splitting up with someone because they are fat you should maybe work on things and encourage them to live a healthier life if you love them?

I don't think it's a deal breaker as far as the woman doesn't let herself go and/or there is no other health explanation that stops her from losing weight. Pregnancy is tricky due to its many hormones that can cause various outcomes for a woman's body. I have a friend who was gorgeous and skinny in her 20s , then she had 2 kids and no matter what diet she tried or how often she went to the gym, or the various dietitians she went to. She simply couldn't lose the weight. Once tests were ran drs found out her thyroid was not working properly, which caused her to gain weight extremely easy.
So I'd advise men to be mindful of what may cause that weight gain before putting their woman to the left.

Nope. I once dated a woman who outweighed me by 100 pounds and was seven inches taller than me. At 6'6" she was definitely an Amazon! And CJ was still plenty feminine despite her size, as well.

She's lazy and wants to be fat. All this talk about pregnancy makes you fat, no it doesn't. Plenty of models, actresses, body builders, athletes... all have kids and in 6 months after popping one out are back to their normal body. It's total bullshit excuse. Plus you only need to gain no more than like 20lbs max when pregnant. How much do you think a baby weighs anyways? These girls load up 70lbs "for the baby" which is nonsense, they are just fat.

Not a big deal. My husband only weighs 20-30 pounds more then me so during pregnancy I usually get up to his weight. It doesn't bother either of us to be the same weight

I’m on the thicker side so I’ve always outweighed men who have been interested in me. I used to be insecure that my thighs were always bigger than his or that my weight was higher than his, but I’ve realized guys don’t care. They all always thought I weighed less than I do, which never made sense to me lol.


And women’s bodies are gonna change after having kids, that’s inevitable. He’s the one who caused her to get pregnant so I don’t understand men who have an issue with this. If she let herself go after having children then I understand that part.

I'm 175 athletic shape. No freaking 5'2" girl or some short girl going to weigh even close to my weight pregnant or not or I'm dropping her off at sea world for them to take care of the whale. This is why I don't date tall girls because if they gain some weight and they would be bigger than me and I'd be disgusted by them. I'm not going to become a fat ass just to stay bigger than them. Just run a mile a day and eat fruits and veggies the weight will just fall off.
