Can a guy forget to ask consent without bad intentions?

I was with a guy, who did not ask about a single thing he did if it was okay and if he could. At some point he just took off all his clothes and when he was finished also mine. In the moment I didn't really think about it, but in hindsight i am really uncomfortable with it, also because my last relationship was toxic looking back (he was pushing/forcing sexual things I wasn't comfortable with). I talked with the guy who I was with last time, and I dont know if he cares much about it, his answers were short, but he did say sorry.

Do you think this could have been an accident?

I mean... that was definitely not an accident, but it doesn't mean he had bad intentions. There are a million and one things I could do without thinking because they are comfortable/natural things for me to do, but i can't think of a single time I've ever thought that getting naked with someone and then forcing them to do the same was just "what you do in a situation like this."

Consent, especially non-verbal consent, is a tricky thing to navigate. And one of the major ways women can improve the situation is to get better about giving unambiguous consent.

His intentions were clear, there was no coercion, and you were not incapacitated. Grow up and take responsibility for your decisions. We can't read your mind. Did you show any reluctance?

If you were less than cooperative he probably should have stopped but if he's close to your age then he's just as inexperienced as you are.

It would appear that he was comfortable and expected to be intimate in some form or fashion. If you had had sexual relations before this incident, he may just be assuming. Pretty important to relay your expectations with a potential partner before the situation like this happens. If he didn't seem concerned, or didn't care about how you felt after your activities were over, it might be a good idea to and whatever relationship you were forming. Minimum you need to talk to him about it and he needs to show some concern.
