Your partner's family obviously value education. Or they may use education level as an indicator of your ambition, general social standing, general capability, manners, values, outlook, and resourcefulness.

Given the cost of degrees, that is an argument to be had but it's a very rough inductor at best and they'd be better getting to know you personally.

Or they may be academic snobs.

Either way you need to consider if they are right for you. Being looked down upon by self satisfied and superficial people who don't know you and don't see your potential is no fun. He's going to need to step up and demand respect for you. Will he? Is he worth the stress?

More generally, yes, there are plenty of with men (and women) that do not have a degree. Some of which I imagine would find you lovely.

Of course you're worth of a serious relationship. There are millions of uneducated people and millions of people with 2-4 year degrees in serious relationships.

I just googled it now; only 14% of people (in the US) have an advanced degrees (masters+). Maybe your partner's family lives in some isolated bubble where most people they know are professionals, but that doesn't represent the population as a whole.

The only opinions that matter are yours and your partners.

No, not at all. Every family treats that stuff differently though. I'm going to be a lawyer soon. No one (currently alive) in my family has advanced professional degrees. I wouldn't care if my spouse didn't have a professional degree and neither would my family.
