What to do if I am head over heels for a friend, but my best friend hates him?

So my friend is a really nice guy and he has good looks too. We see each other and talk a lot throughout the day, and recently he fell asleep on my shoulder on a drive. I love this friend, but he liked my best friend a while back and she rejected him and absolutely despises him. I don't want to make her mad by liking him though. What do I do?

I told her that I liked someone and she directly said, "It better not be..." as I the guy. And I said okay. I'll tell you later.

Maybe you should have a conversation with her about this first. While I do agree with the other comments saying that it’s your life and you shouldn’t base your decisions off how she’d feel, she’s also your best friend and I think you’d feel really bad and guilty if dating this guy caused any issues between you two. Who knows, she may even be able to give additional information as to why she dislikes him so much. It’s hard to imagine her seeing him as rude when you say he goes out of his way to be nice, so what gives?

If she rejected him then I see not issue why you shouldn't try to be with him. Your best friend can't claim a person or hold you back from it because she rejected him earlier. Just tell your best friend how you feel and that you like him and wanne tey being together with him and see how she reacts to it.

If she gets upset about it then she isn't your best friend after all because she should be happy for you

What’s it matter? Your best friend does not have to be around him. Your best friend can’t dictate who else you have in your life. Unless she’s looking out for you and he’s a bad person.

It's your life, not your best friend's. Tell her you want to date him and it's not under discussion.

Well, at the end of the day it's you that can make the decision. Not her for you. But also keep in mind there's a reason she doesn't like him. Maybe it's a reason you don't know about

But anytime I see them he's super nice and trying to help her or make her laugh. I don't get why she doesn't like him

Yeah. I think I'm just scared that she'll hold a grudge because she does that a lot. But I still don't know if she's right about him or I'm wrong about him. I think based on what I've seen, there's really not much a reason to dislike him, so I still don't understand too well.
