How to be friend with a guy I rejected?

I rejected him but he is nice and we were friends before. I mean i liked him onve too. Wa have a lot of mutual friends so we meet even if we wouldn't want to and i dont want this awkwardness between us when we are around. Does it take time to get to friend relationship again, i guess we kinda have to learn to be friends again right? What do you think?

Just tell him in the more sincere way that: Look I'm sorry I do not feel like you do and it was never my intention of putting tose feelings there to taunt or missleda anyone either.

But I like being with you because *you'll know what makes him special to your friendship* and you're my friend and I want to be your friend.

Once someone reveals they have feelings like this and the other part do not. Time passed is probably needed. He needs to reassess what you've told him. He might be sad about that fact, but he will either be your friend or stop hanging out with you. It's rare being something in between in my pov.

Nah dude. You realistically can't. Even if you try to be friends with him again, he'll take it as a potential chance to take another shot and misunderstand. He risked the friendship by asking you out because he thought it was worth it. Now being friends again will be unlikely. It just can't work. Cos you literally said "I do not like you enough to be with you forever and pass your genes on and have a family with you" by rejecting him. So yeah.
