When I was younger, it was more acceptable, and most women might have considered it sweet. But in those days, there were no cell phones, and as a guy you had to take more chances like that. But even then, you would show up and ask for her number, in case she was interested in going out sometime with you. 50/50 chance she would give you her real number, but as a guy you never pressed for more than a number, unless she gave you an opening to ask her out... but that was the gamble you took back then. But showing up like that even then was a huge gamble, because it can easily be seen as stalker like behavior or creepy.
But in those days, women would know if it was sweet or not, because they would know if they showed any interest in a guy. See back then if she showed an interest in a guy, then women kind of expected the guy to do that type of thing. But if the guy miss read the situation, then he would of just of blown it big time!!!
In today's world with all the social media and cell phones... it's kind of creepy honestly. To just show up at a woman's place of work and put her on the spot like that and basically force the situation. But you should know if you had given this guy any reason to want to try to do something like that. I mean if you had shown him any interest at all then it's still kind of sweet. But even if you did show and "interest" there are so many better ways to connect with a woman now days then forcing a face-to-face situation where you put her on the spot like that.
So, its creepier than anything, unless you really like the guy.
If he showed up that weird he probably has socially anxiety and is freaking out that he is actually asking. Did you go out with him or distort him?
