Do you think people should scrub their social media of past partners?

Depends. I learned a long time ago it’s not a good idea to plaster social media with pics of your partner. Occasionally is fine but don’t overdo it. Don’t show off either

There was one ex in particular I felt conflicted about scrubbing. Most pics had to go but there were 1 or 2 of them that represented a key moment in my personal history. There was a pic where I won a very hard trained for athletic competition where she supported me. I was standing proudly in the best shape of my life while hugging her with my championship belt. I was an underdog but I won. It was my own personal rocky story.

She scrubbed and untagged all the pics of me including the victory moment pic. I understood why for the other pics got taken out but for that particular one it really hurt that she did that tbh. It could of been left as a golden memory without having false hopes and unnecessary nostalgia. But when she disassociated with that pic it got to me. I took it down shortly afterwards.

If you care about possessing the other person’s respect, as a household leader or loving participant, or her/his feelings and insecurities then why hasn’t the data been scrubbed. And the dating application too. Oh, I see your Past is more important…let me see your phone.

Every partner wants to be your first and if you are not cognizant of this combined with an existing trail of Live past and evident body count/lust then guess what the other person is assuming. And why there is a quiet and underlying, either repressed or externally expressed, Tension.

I don't think you should post your partner, lol fair enough on fb but not on instagram or other stuff. And I hate when people post like "lovey dovely" pics or pics where they are kissing and then do it with all their different partners.. no. LOL The only pics I have is just with my ex and we are just standing together never any PDA. So I don't think they should be deleted.

If you want to move on in life then it's a good suggestion. Going no contact in person and online with your ex is the best way to get over them.

Not for me. It's sometimes nice to think back to some of the good times in life. We save old photos... why not save social media info?

I delete stuff a little after. Usually a few weeks or months. It seems like the most respectful thing to do for everyone.

I don't like the whole "they're not part of my life anymore" mentality because even though things didn't work out that doesn't mean that I don't value the experiences I had with someone.

I hate the feeling like I'm just saying it was all completely worthless to me. You grow a little bit from every relationship.

To me, deleting your exes photos is more about making room for the next one.

I find being honest about past present and future relationships a must so why scrub or hide any of it. People who know me know who I have had relationships with anyway.
it is only the new or potential partner that might not know and scrubbing it might be like hiding it from him/her. If he/she has issues with past relationships then that is a trust issue and maybe a red flag…

Now if I were still posting to those old relationship post then that might be a red flag too.

i never/ rarely post about my relationships.. but if i did it’s bc it’s a group photo. i’d still keep up the group photos though but if it was just us 2 in the pic i’d archive it.

It’s up to the individual and how their relationships ended. I personally do remove everything to do with my exes from my social media, because they’re no longer relevant in my life.

No, why should they? Why should I? It's pictures just like in a physical photo album. I wouldn't remove pictures from an actual photo album either, why would I do that? That's just weird.

I don't use Facebook like I used to when it first came out but when I did I always got rid of pictures of exes.
