Absentee during ER high-risk visit?

I've been dating at 55 year old woman (I'm 52- so we're not kids here) for over a year. We live about 20 miles apart. I had been complaining of headaches for a week straight. I finally took my blood pressure and it was 185/145. I told her i was headed to the ER and her response "Keep me posted"... When i got there, the MD started IV Meds but was worried about a possible brain bleed. Agan I texted her and got "Keep me posted"... thank God no bleed but I spent the rest of the 9 hours in the ER alone. Am I wrong to feel extremely hurt and angry about this? I would have NEVER thought twice to drop what I was doing if the role was reversed. Furthermore, I have no idea what was going on that would have stopped her from coming- not "I'm stuck at work" (she works for herself). I've been very distant with her but intend to confront her. I feel this is a deal breaker- or am I overreacting to this? I wasn't there for a cut finger. Any inut is welcome...

OK: you felt left on your own and perhaps somewhat vulnerable. That's understandable.

But at the age of 50-something (apparently, I'm there as well) we should not longer need Mommy to hold our hand when things get rough.

She's not your nurse, but your partner...

Isn't it rather that you had expectations in her response, and she did something different? So the ''mistake'' is/was in YOUR head?

You also simply could have texted ''I wish you were here now'' - that isn't hard, mate :)

That’s the type of message I’ve sent to friends and co-workers where it wasn’t my place to insert myself. If it was my sister, niece, parents or my partner I would be there. Or at the very least ask them if they wanted or could have company. ER’s are not fun. Especially when you don’t know what’s going on yet.


I think you have a perfectly good reason for feeling like you are not very important to her.
