Why do girls complain about relationships where pretty girls are with average-looking guys?

I have seen this as a very common complaint with many girlfriends that I know. Apparently most of the time it's out of jealousy.

But to be fair it's out of societal expectations, guys are nurtured from childhood to work hard forgetting everything else including physical and mental health to provide for others, and girls are encouraged to look pretty and find rich, stable guys.

Parents of girls spend huge amounts of money on a girl's look from early childhood and girls continue to spend a pretty good amount of money on looks afterward too. Plus they can hide flaws behind specifically designed makeup, accessories, clothes, and shoes.

Guys, they have to solely rely on nature. Some guys grow huge muscles but they are actually way harder to maintain and totally unrealistic for many professions that guys are generally into.

So it's very natural that most men will not look good compared to most women.

It comes in a situation like this. Attractive and successful guys date similarly, now a lot of attractive girls date average-looking guys so average to below-average women only get average to below-average guys, generally not the hot or successful one. Since on average more girls are attractive than guys, it's a plight for average to below-average girls.

I have never heard of such complaint whether it is man or woman. Most are like great, one very good-looking person who is not in competition with me. The only time that I have ever heard anything close to this is when someone likes one of the partners involved in the original relationship.

Haha are you kidding? Men who actually work actually look better than your typical lazy bum who doesn't. Look at hot bodies of police officers, firefighters, construction workers. These are men who work and look great. Working out makes you look good.

Women tend to date men less good looking than them because women tend to be less shallow. You never see a man dating a less good looking woman than him because men tend to be more shallow. You can accuse women of wanting a rich man all you want. But reality is vast majority of women dont end up marrying wealthy rich men. Most women dont marry men to become stay home wives. Vast majority of mothers work jobs to support their families

The majority of modern and high-paying jobs are not physically invasive. Clerks, IT, anything official, lawyers, doctors, teachers, and many other jobs are most likely mental labor than physical and they still take long hours.

@haha456 women are in those jobs true but they are still considered as a male-dominated field and just like guys, girls in those fields too take less care of their physical attributes. However, this discussion misses the original point, at any job on average girls will look better than guys because of a good investment in their looks. So it's natural to see girls with less attractive guys physically however notion of social status.

these are not male dominated fields. Its very COMMON to encounter women in law and accounting and human resources. Vast majority of office work is done by women. you don't even know what the fuck you're talking about.

there is no such thing as women looking better than men. No woman paints her face with a heaping mask of makeup on a daily basis when she goes to the supermarket or walk her dog.

reality is, men are simply more shallow than women

What you dont understand is that boys are favored over girls in many second or third world countries. Going to college as a female is a luxury few women can imagine getting in many countries around the world. Even if they do get this opportunity, many cultures force women to retire immediately after getting married to become housewives

Every girl I ever told that I like someone responded saying he’s not good looking enough for me.

Actually it isn’t the odd girl out that says this. It’s literally all of them. And I don’t think I have a bad taste in guys since these guys even dated other people.

I can confirm that the girl that claimed the guy was too tall was actually insecure about being tall herself. He was 6ft+, she was 5’6 and I am 5’0. She told me this after we walked into class together one day and he asked me to sit with him. Maybe she wanted all the tall boys to herself? I don't know Haha

It will be odd to generalize people bit something which is common as human beings is we are never happy with what we have and grass is always greener on the other side hence people complain about their relationship regardless to how they look it's mother nature and our genetics responsible for how we look there is no competition about which gender is prettier speaking of average looking we also have to notice what all that average looking person is providing what are the advantages to date them then looks get sidelined also sometimes if a person is insecure but good looking they will deliberately choose partner who is average looking so that they feel secure and superior to them

Men also have just as much ability to hide their flaws behind makeup and accessories, cloths and shoes. There are many who do. If actually men put in as much effort to their appearance as women, do it would even things out.

Parents do put more money on female children's looks than male children globally at least in places with modern thought and education. Guys are encouraged to care less about their looks and be tough.
Most women gravely dislike men with makeup, ask a question about it or search previous questions, and you will see most women will not date a guy who wears makeup.
