I think dating doesn’t need to have a time line. Stuff like this , couples should be actively be talking about and setting standards/ guidelines in their relationship. Making it known to their partner their wants/desires of how a relationship should go.

What MATTERS is when people make a commitment to each other. Marriage is really an institution of the STATE - it turns a union of two people into a business contract. It wasn't always that way, certainly, but that's exactly what it has become.

I am absolutely not afraid of making a commitment to a woman, but I have no interest in involving the state. The state certainly does not have my best interests, or the best interests of a marriage, in mind. The state is in it to get more money and power at my expense - PERIOD. I wish that weren't so, but that's what it's been since the late 60s.

Depends on your cultural expectation. I'd say you're leaving it late but if you have your man and a steady relationship in place, you're probably on track.

I'm 37 been with my partner since we where 18 and been engaged since 19 and we have 2 kids but we're still not married. It genuinely doesn't bother me. We've always had other financial priorities and my partner wants a proper wedding where as I would rather continue to have nice holidays and do nice things makimg good family memories than scrimp and save for years just for one day, where as I'd quite happily just get married just the 2 of us while on holiday. So we've just never really agreed on anything and we both believe having children together is a way bigger commitment and does more to hold you together than what a piece of paper does. Maybe we'll get round to it one day but either way I don't mind
