If men generally don't care about our money, why did my ex boyfriend asked me for $1000?

Obviously my answer was no and we broke up within a week. I can maybe understand up to $50 at most but $1,000 seems to much.

He's the only one that ever asked me for money. It was something to do with his debts and was telling me he'll pay it back. I still declined. I never asked anyone for money so I found it quite offensive. If men say they don't care about our money nor our success, why did he ask me for money?

1. Asking for a loan is not gold digging.
2. Your ex is not a representation of all men.
3. Most couples assist with debts, buy gifts or food, or otherwise spend money on their SO, however most men will still stay with you if you don't do any of that ever.
