Guys, what do you think if your girlfriend who routinely texts you good morning, how's your day, etc. suddenly stops texting you these things?

He says he wants a relationship, everything he says in person implies strongly he wants something serious. But he doesn't text back even good morning and it's like you know what I don't know if by texting I'm coming across as too needy or what and it's just so confusing and frustrating. I understand he's busy but at the same time why should I feel like I'm balancing on a tight rope. If I text am I being needy. If I don't text am I ignoring him.

And it's not like I'm texting excessively it's just a few texts in a day.

Oh I would think it was sweet. It wouldn't come off as needy, but it would certainly make clear that I was top-of-mind for you. At the same time... I would hate someone to feel like they were somehow obligated to text me good-morning. And... I would definitely reply. Because I'm not a jerk.

I think you should stop. You sure shouldn't have to feel like your on a tight-rope with this. It should ideally be something you don't have to worry about. You talk at the frequency that you both want sorta naturally. But internal strife over sending the message or not... especially when he's not replying... is... something you shouldn't worry so much about.

Stop texting because he's not replying to your morning texts. If he's got a problem with that, or wants to think it means something. Who cares. Let him think what he wants or ask you about it. You stopped sending them, because he wasn't replying. Obviously you're going to get the impression they are not particularly appreciated. If he has an issue, let him say something about it.

It hurts me to see someone torn up about this. You're being pretty reasonable here. Stop doing it. Stop worrying about it. You're making a logical decision for obvious reasons (non-reply). Fuck whatever he might want to think about it. This is a very fair thing for you to do. And I hope you stop.

There is a balance here. Obviously it’s extremely sweet in my opinion to text these things. And if I’m dating someone or interested in someone I always love hearing from her.


At the same time, it’s good to continue your own life. If you stay busy and don’t pour 100% of yourself into it that shows you have your own life and have balance. No matter how much people say otherwise, it’s impossible to give someone 100% of yourself all day everyday and have it be sustainable. I’d prefer someone to give me 200% for a bit each day, and have their own life. It shows they have their own life too. And abstinence makes the heart grow fonder.


But I would never consider it needy or anything unless you’re texting multiple times in a row. Or if the conversation ever gets one sided. So long as there is balance, and mutual it’s fine.


But to answer your title question. I’d think something is wrong. Sadly I overthink things sometimes. And I’ve gotten better at separating my overthinking nature with the actions I take. But it’s still hard not to pick up on changes like this. So I’d think something is wrong. Especially if it continues for a few days or something. I guess the one exception to this is if everything else feels normal and ok.

Personally speaking, I enjoy a female texting me in the am and throughout the day. Not overbearing but definitely texts keep things on track and know that I am on my partners mind. Perfectly normal and acceptable. Additionally, it's nice to return the favor with some surprise texts with a little something spicy. I can't speak to why this dude is not responsive but I tend to believe he's tuned out and has other interests. Find someone that will appreciate you and what you're willing to add in a relationship. Honestly, based on the description after the actual question I think this is a dead relationship. Either way, your needs aren't being met as he isn't communicating at the level you desire, or you are actually being needy. Either way, this one isn't something worth holding onto.
