Oh, that happens - not often, but it happens. But the broke guy has to bring some powerful things to the table or it will have no chance of happening.

Usually, the broke guy has to be really good-looking and fit. In some cases, though, he can be average-looking, but he's got to be extremely confident and extremely manly. Finally, these guys all need to be okay with women who are often considerably older than they (the guys) are. Meaning, the older, wealthy woman is often going to be in her 50s, and often isn't going to be especially attractive physically, but will get with a hot young guy that she wouldn't otherwise get any interest from, but CAN because she's got money and is willing to spend it on him.

The other reality is that most men who are broke are also not good-looking enough and not confident and manly enough to attract the interest of these women, because those women want someone they can show off to their other friends. If you are broke, you need to be high on the other measures, or you're just a bum to them.
