Why do so many people on here refer to their ex, ?

Just because you broke up with someone doesn't mean that they didn't have an impact on you. I believe that love never truly goes away. It only transfers to other people and other things. Sometimes people struggle with transferring that love away from an ex. Sometimes we miss a period of our lives more than we miss the actual ex, but it's easier to conceptualize the ex than a chunk of time. Breakups are traumatic and trauma doesn't go away simply because you want it too. It takes work and therapy and sometimes just talking about it to help move on.

that is a good explanation, I have broken up with two in my life, one I was deeply in love with, the other is a no mention, but I don't keep on about him he is in the past, I now have a husband, we love each other

Thank you. Some people are just able to move on a little bit better. I like to think in terms of bottom line. So if my ex doesn't affect my bottom line whatsoever then I don't really give him any mental energy. But some people don't think that way. My boyfriend is one of those people. He's still holding a grudge against his ex. It confuses me. Because we are happy and he said our relationship is different and it's one for the long haul. But he's obsessed with making his ex jealous and upset. They broke up five years ago. So I totally get where you're coming from about being annoyed but you just got to let people do them. If they want to live in the past. That's entirely on them
