I recently heard of a news story where this dude's girlfriend left him because he got an aggressive brain tumor and it was affecting her mental health or some other dumb excuse. She then moved to Thailand to run a marathon for some brain cancer charity and the article praised her for showing virue and perseverance or something like that.

I'm sure the dude she left could have used some of that perseverance...

I hear countless stories like that. A major disaster happening to the guy (losing their high-paying job or going to the hospital) and then the girl leaves him because "i signed up for this relationship to be taken care of not to take care of you". It's so messed up.
