On GAG I’m here to decode love, red flags, and all the messy emotional stuff we pretend we’re “chill” about. 😉
If I truly loved them and they weren’t abusive or toxic, yes, I’d stay. That’s what commitment means: not just the fun, sexy, lovebombing honeymoon phase, but the brutal, scary parts too.
You don’t abandon your person when life hits hardest.10 Reply

5 moDepends on a couple of things. How long were we together? If we started a relationship like a few weeks ago, then probably not, unless I fell madly in love with them within that time frame and knew that was the girl for me.
Secondly, are we both in love with each other? Like genuinely? Because I'm not going to stay with someone out of pity. I wouldn't leave or stay with someone because of their illness, but an illness sure as hell won't stop me from leaving if I don't love them and they just caused me a headache in life.

5 moYes I would. Marriage isn't just about great feelings of love. It's about commitment and working as a team, being your partner's greatest support, being there for them during the good and bad times.

Even as non-religious, we still publically said our marital vows. That's something you don't play with.

5 moYes I would of course!

5 moIt’s funny that you ask that because the primary reason two people enter a monogamous partnership is for security and such cases. Marriage may not be as exciting or spontaneous as the single life but it offers stability, comfort, reliability, certainty, and the peace of mind that somebody will always have your back. I actually brought that question up during marriage counseling. What would you do if I was paralyzed? If you’re only going to be with somebody when things are going great then you may as well not be with them because that’s just not life.

5 moI know a man who's wife became terminally ill and was sent to the Hospital.
He immediately started seeing other women.
One day, not long after her diagnosis, he went to the hospital and told her that he was moving another women into their home with him and would not be coming back to visit her ever again.
Anyone that would do something like this belongs in the Hottest Part of HELL! ... and even that would be too good for them!

Prior to his visit there, just as a prelude for what he has to look forward to - about 2 minutes of this to the testicles would be perfect...

Other than that, I really don't have a strong opinion on the matter.

Being there to care for her was incredibly difficult.

It was very tough.
I'm beginning to see some light at the end of the tunnel.
1K opinions shared on Relationships topic. The idea of a person who cares for their dying partner, invests a lot of time in a person without surviving chances is beautiful and noble. From pragmatic perspective, desire to raiding a horse you know it dies far before target isn't the smartest choice.
Honestly, being in such situation isn't an easy choice and now I don't know how I would react.00 Reply405 opinions shared on Relationships topic. My father is handicapped with a bum left leg
My mom never once questioned his validity as a partner
And they’re not a “loving” couple but somehow a perfect one
It gives me the right example.

5 moYes, I would, Honestly, that’s not the part that’s hard to decide.
If you really love someone that much of course you want to be there for them, Even if it sucks, Because seeing them in pain fucking sucks, But if you can put a smile on their face every once in a while and make them laugh, At least you did something.00 Reply1.1K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Terminally ill is not even a question , however I'm assuming a long term married scenario here?
If it were a young person , and their partner is paralysided , my advice to them would be to leave , if terminal illness , well they are going to die anyhow , it's just how long they live.00 ReplyYes. I good times and bad times.
